What is an Adjective?

An adjective is a word that describes a noun. It tells you more about the kind or quantity of the noun. therefore an adjective is a word that adds more meaning to the word it is describing.

Read through the list below and their meanings and use the correct adjectives to complete the sentences.

beautiful - pleasing to the senses (oen to look
at or listen to)
long - having great duration or length
angry - displaying or feeling anger or dis
pleasure
sick - unwell
funny - amusing or humourous
cold - having a low temperature
sleepy - tires and feeling the need for sleep
yellow - having the colour yellow
late - not on time
rude - bad mannered
excellent - of the highest quality
big - of great size
mountainous- having many mountains
grainy - coarse or gritty
